Restoration

 

Cyril de Ricou’s passion and knowledge in the field of painting techniques naturally led him to restoring projects on Historical Monuments. Each restoration project of a Historical Site is a fascinating work of art in itself, from saving an endangered piece to discovering either hidden or dissimulated treasures, or bringing a work of art back to its original state after it has been painted over, modified or purposely degraded.

Total respect of all original pieces is imperative, the first ethical principle of the restorer, and this fundamental requirement applies to all our activities. A restorer is an unprejudiced technician whose goal is to find the pertinent solution to every mission. He must be able to master the inherent risks in every intervention.

Restoration projects draw us into their own particular universe: whether they be discovering Medieval frescoes; restoring volumes, statuaries, monumental domes painted with the easel technique; wainscoting, ceilings, ancient décors or ornamental panels…
